The Queen Isabel Causeway is a two-mile-long bridge that connects Port Isabel to South Padre Island near the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. The new Queen Isabella Causeway was "constructed in 974 and replaced the original Queen Isabella Causeway constructed in 954, which became known as the Old Fishing Pier, “said Wikipedia.
The name change in 2001 to Queen Isabel Memorial Causeway.
But it is so much more to us all, it is the only way to get to South Padre Island, TX. From time to time it gets a little back up with traffic like at Spring Break, any weekend night in the summer. So the locals like to see how busy it is to plan our trip to the island. For the please who don’t live here it just a nice view. Every January the north side of the causeway close for a few hours to host the Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk. In the past 4,800 people participated. The Bridge webcams can see them as they make their way to South Padre Island, TX. theQueen Isabel Memorial Causeway was host to Beach –N- Bikerfest motorcycles parade, each year the Biker parade starches out for miles with every time hog made. It is worth watching, better to be here. the Queen Isabel Memorial Causeway will host Pedal to Padre a 25-mile bicycle tour Brownsville to South Padre Island, TX.
